Christmas or Nearly New Years Cake!

Well I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas and looking forward to 2012! I have been enjoying the festivities so much that I forgot to share my Christmas cake recipe. But since it's not a traditional Christmas cake, and you could really use it for any occasion,  I've decided its not too late to share!

So if you are thinking of making a New Years cake this could be just  the one for you!

A Mary Berry Christmas!

I love Christmas, and this year I'm even more excited than ever as I have already gotten the best gift ever. Something I have always, not my lovely new bike, but... my very own husband! Yes it is my first Christmas as a wife and I'm so happy that I've been decorating every inch of our home with festive stuff while trying my best to sing Christmas carols in tune.

Chocolate Birthday Cake

This is the most delicious chocolate cake you could ever  possibly imagine. It's sooooo rich and tastes so good. I made it for the first time last year for my brother-in-law's birthday, and it was such a hit that I've made it for nearly every special person's birthday since then!

As it was my lovely sister's  birthday last week I thought I'd make it for her, she appreciates chocolate. And yes, I did give her the lovely skirt as a present - but really that was me inflicting my homemade fashion experiments on her, so I  also had to give her something I knew she'd like. And chocolate cake works every time.

Skirt Update

I did it! Over a year after I first started putting it together I have finally completed my second skirt! And I finished it on time to give to Emer for her birthday. Woohoo!

So, since my last post about this skirt I had a good bit of re-jigging to do. I already had the bones of it done but really needed some guidance to finish it off. I always knew my Mam could sew, so I called over with the skirt to see if she could work some magic on it. First of all she examined it closely and  told me I had done a good job so far. Which I was very pleased with. Then, when I told her I was finishing it so I could give it to Emer for a birthday present she almost had a heart attack. Seems my "good job" was acceptable for me to wear out in public but not to give away as an actual present.
